Types of Diabetes
There are various types of diabetes that can impact people of all ages. Type 1 diabetes is a situation in which a persons body does not produce enough insulin. Type 1 diabetes is also known as juvenile diabetes because it regularly occurs in children and in young adults. Type 2 diabetes is a situation in which the bodys cells simply do not respond in the appropriate way to the insulin produced in their bodies (Arcangelo & Peterson, 2006). Type 2 diabetes is the most common variant of diabetes with roughly 9 out of every 10 cases being one in which the type of diabetes is type 2. This type usually sets in later in life, around middle age.
Gestational diabetes happens in pregnant women who have not been diagnosed as diabetic before.
